The Sudanese woman sentenced to death for her Christian faith and released from prison yesterday was arrested with her family at Khartoum airport, according to sources.
Meriam Ibrahim was arrested in February and gave birth to a baby girl while in custody. She was sentenced to death for apostasy, or renouncing Islam.
Ibrahim was arrested today together with her two children and husband, Daniel Wani, an American citizen.
Upon her release yesterday, Wani had said the family was planning to go to the U.S.
A source suggested that the family’s detainment was not related to visa or passport issues.
“We don’t have any information about what charges they faces. But the National Security force does not have to take them to court. This is not a criminal matter, it’s a national security matter,” Meriam’s attorney said to the Mailonline.
The details of Meriam’s release have not been announced publicly, though she may be required to stay in the country.
